- I asked about Holy Shield as well, and why +holy or +spell damage didn't apply to it while applying to other abilities. The response I received is that, under certain easily achieveable conditions and combinations, Holy Shield was devastating with + spell damage applied. Rather than decrease the effectiveness of the base ability and still have the problem later on, they changed it so + spell damage no longer applies to it. I'm aware this is unpopular -- as is any reduction in power -- but please understand that we don't make such calls unless they're absolutely necessary. They tested these changes time and again and the results with Holy Shield were unbalanced. I realize this sort of change is particularly unpopular with Holy Shield's move to a 31-point talent, but I do want to stress that the talent trees are primarily about giving players more options as they go deeper into a tree rather than becoming more powerful.

- Raid Setup
- Tanks: 5 (A mix of Prot and Fury Warriors and Feral Druids)
- Wave 1
- The first wave consists of Crypt Fiends and Ghouls.
- The tanks grab about 2-3 mobs each and start building aggro on all of them. While the tanks are building up aggro, the raid focuses DPS on some Crypt Fiend or Ghoul, which is tanked either by the NPCs or an extra fury warrior/feral druid. When that mob is dead, and by judge of the tanks, AoE can begin. Every single class should try to help the AoE. Mages, warlocks, paladin, warriors, druids, rogues - everyone with some kind of multi-hitting ability should help out.
- The next few waves should have a similiar setup.

- GameSpy: As a Warrior player, it seems like a Paladin is the only tank any group wants to take [to the Shattered Halls]. Not because we can't do it, but because Paladins are able to do it so much faster, and people would rather go with the most efficient, fastest option possible.
- Brack: I've never run it with a Paladin, actually. I've only run it with Bears or with a Warrior, and both have been very successful.
- -An interview with Blizzard Lead Producer J. Allen Brack
- With the Death Knight's DPS and tanking ability, how will Warriors and Paladins continue to have a presence in groups and raids, since there are going to be so many Death Knights when the expansion comes out. There's gonna be like 8 million of them running around.
- Chilton: 8 million level 55 Death Knights; there won't be 8 million level 80 Death Knights. Well, I think in a lot of ways you can actually make the same comparison to Warriors also, as a hybrid DPS/Tanking class, but that doesn't mean necessarily the Paladin has no role in tanking. I think it's in terms of the way we set up their tanking niches. We're kind of designing the Paladin tank to be the best AE tank, and we're designing the Warrior to be the best sheer mitigation tank, and we're designing the Death Knight to be the anti-spellcaster tank.
