Round of Eight

Round of Eight replays

Qualifying

Replays of most (missing Murb vs. Silverhawk) of the qualifying matches can be found here.

Rules

Qualifying

Players will be divided into groups of 4. It will be round-robin, i.e. each player will play each other player in their group once. The two players with the most wins from each group will then advance to the round of eight. In the event of a tie, those involved in the tie will play round-robin again until it's resolved.

Tournament

Players will play best of three; winners will advance to the next round. In the semifinals, the losers of each match will play each other for 3rd place.

Maps

All qualifying games, as well as the first game of a tournament series, shall be played on Blistering Sands.

Subsequent games in a tournament series will be on the map chosen by the loser of the previous game. The map must be an official Blizzard 1v1 map. Novice maps are acceptable.

Creating Games

Party up with your opponent, then click the Multiplayer button in the top left, then create a custom game (in the bottom right). Select a map (in accordance with the rules above). Leave the game settings at their defaults (Melee, 1v1, Faster).

Game End

There's often no need to let the game drag out if someone is clearly winning; if you think you're beat, 'gg' out and surrender (F10 n) and seek vengeance in your next game! (At the same time, never say die -- I've seen all kinds of crazy upsets.)

Replays

Since there are a bunch of games that need to happen, I can't be there to watch and referee every single one live. Instead, players will email replays of their games to gtsc2.replays@gmail.com for review. I shall leave scheduling specifics to the players involved, but I encourage everyone not to delay playing them. This page will be updated with match schedules and results as I get them.

Both players must send me replays. This is to ensure that both players agree on the outcome of their matchup.

How to save your replays: After playing each game, click the little camera icon in the top left of the Battle.Net UI. This will take you to the replays screen. Your most recent games will be shown. Click the game you just played and then click the little floppy disk icon just above and to the right of the list, and give it a useful name (something like "YourPlayerName vs OtherPlayerName Game x of y" so it's easy for me to sift through). This should save it to the Multiplayer folder.

You can then find your replays on disk at:

(Windows users): My Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts\nnnnn\n-nn-n-nnnnnn\Replays\Multiplayer

(Mac users): Documents/Blizzard/StarCraft II/Accounts/nnnnn/n-nn-n-nnnnnn/Replays/Multiplayer

Schedule

Tournament

The Semifinals started Sunday, September 26, 2010, and will continue until all matchups are resolved. In the event that matchups do not happen in a timely basis, the tournament host (geordan#306) has the option of scheduling the matchups explicitly at a time agreeable to both players in a given matchup. Should either player be absent without excuse, the other player shall be granted a bye for that matchup.

Qualifying

Qualifying has ended. See the Tournament Bracket for the current tournament status.
